An Alternative Incendiary Weapon of the Byzantine Era

Abstract

The article offers to resolve the confusion about the firearms of the Byzantine era. The argument proposed is that the Byzantines could have used ancient weapons, namely firearms known from the Peloponnesian War. This hypothesis has been confronted with sources containing descriptions of firearms. The article also takes into account the leading discourse in this matter and other alternatives, not excluding them, but only extending the existing assumptions by a new possibility.
