Abstract

The article presents the participation of Poles - the officers of the Russian Imperial Navy in the First World War. Many of our compatriots during the Great War served under the flag of St. Andrew, often performing important functions as Command and staff officers (e.g. Kazimierz Kietliński, Kazimierz Włodzimierz Porębski, Jerzy Świrski). After regaining independence in 1918, hundreds of ocers of Polish nationality who had the training and combat experience gained in the fleet of the Tsar, returned to the Homeland and enlisted for service in the Navy or Merchant Marine of Reborn Poland.
