Abstract

The purpose of this article is to discuss the events that unfolded in Palestine at the turn of 438 and 439, and in particular to show the role played in them by two representatives of the Theodosian dynasty: the Empress Athenais-Eudokia, wife of Theodosius II, and Pulcheria, his sister.
