The Czechoslovak Press and the Situation in Poland in 1988: Open Information Policy or Propaganda Confusion?

Abstract

The main purpose of this article is to show the picture of the most important Polish political, economic and social actions, as well as processes, in 1988 year, under the prism of Czechoslovak opinion-forming daily and weekly press. It is wanted to disclose the way of presenting, of the most important actions and processes in Poland by Czechoslovak press in period, which we had spoken about above. It is also tried to set, how acute was an attention to the Polish events, that had taken place at those times, by the press. Due to the analyses of the articles, that were published by newspapers which were controlled by the Czechoslovak Rule. According to this fact we could emphasize one of the elements in the circle of the Czechoslovak-Poland relation in the end of 80s. We could also reconstruct image of Poland, which was presented to the Czechoslovak citizens, by the Czechoslovak Communist Power.
